Report: AEW Fight Forever release date confirmed for June

The wait for AEW Fight Forever should be over early this summer.

Though jokes can certainly be made bout waiting forever for AEW Fight Forever to finally make its way to the eager hands of wrestling fans and gamers, it appears the wait is down to just a little over a month.

Fightful Select (subscription required but well worth it) says it has been able to confirm that the AEW Fight Forever release date will be Tuesday, June 27. That follows on the heels of reporting from Mike Straw of Insider Gaming, whose sources told him the launch would be around the time of Forbidden Door — which takes place Sunday, June 25.

Unlike WWE’s 2K series of video games, Fight Forever is intended to be a game that releases once and is updated as it goes as opposed to something with a new, full-priced release each year. Its aesthetic is influenced by popular video games of the past, including WWF No Mercy for the Nintendo 64, but updated for today’s more powerful consoles and PCs.

Fightful Select added that people working on the game say “it plays very smoothly” while adding that there are some “limitations with the create-a-wrestler” feature.

Providing the information is on point, an official announcement from AEW and its partners should come soon. We’ll certainly be hitting the sticks along with the rest of the community that’s been waiting for AEW Fight Forever to release, which it will do on current and last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC.
