The wide receiver additions keep coming for the 49ers as injuries at the position pile up. On the heels of Jalen Hurd’s torn ACLJalen Hurd’s torn ACL, San Francisco will add former Seahawks receiver Jaron Brown according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Matt Maiocco from NBC Sports reported Brown has already begun his mandatory COVID-19 testing and will be eligible to practice Thursday when the 49ers return to the field.
Brown, 30, joined the NFL in 2013 with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie. He spent five seasons in Arizona and caught 86 balls for 1,177 yards and nine touchdowns in 71 games. Brown signed with the Seahawks in 2018 and posted 30 receptions for 386 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons. He was a special teams contributor with both clubs as well.
This is the third new wide receiver the 49ers have added since camp began. Brown joins Tavon Austin and his former teammate with the Cardinals JJ NelsonTavon Austin and his former teammate with the Cardinals JJ Nelson on a 49ers receiving corps that’s already seen three contributors go downalready seen three contributors go down with injuries this offseason and had a fourth opt outfourth opt out.
Brown clocked a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash and offers good size at 6-3, 204 pounds. He’ll compete for a spot on the back end of the depth chart with a chance to make the club as a vertical threat and special teams contributor.
