Report: 2021 NBA Draft Combine to take place in-person in Chicago

The draft combine will reportedly return to Chicago and take place June 21-27 at the Wintrust Arena.

On Tuesday, it was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic that the 2021 NBA draft combine will return to Chicago and take place June 21-27 at the Wintrust Arena.

Of course, the annual scouting event is typically held in Chicago but was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Prospects were forced to prepare largely on their own for the draft while conducting virtual interviews and workouts with teams.

The event this year will feature 5-on-5 games, strength and agility testing, shooting drills, measurements and other related on-court exercises. Teams will be permitted to have 10 personnel members attend the drills and six for the in-person interviews.

In addition to the draft combine, the league is also expected to host the NBA G League Elite Camp from June 19-21. The event gives prospects the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of scouts, coaches and front-office executives for a chance to be invited to the combine.

The NBA announced in March that the lottery will take place June 22 at a location to be determined with the draft itself scheduled for July 29. The combine will be televised across the ESPN family of networks throughout the week.
