Former Kentucky head coach Guy Morriss has died.

He was 71.

Tennessee defeated Kentucky, 38-35, in 2001 at Commonwealth Stadium. The Vols were victorious, 24-0, against Morriss and Kentucky in 2002 at Neyland Stadium.

Morriss served as Kentucky’s offensive line coach under head coach Hal Mumme from 1997-2000.

Morriss was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016.

“I’m so saddened to hear of the passing of Coach Morriss,” Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said. “I’m grateful for everything he did for this program. We loved seeing him around here and just a few short weeks ago he attended Fan Day. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jackie and his family.”
