Remember when people were afraid of booze in college football? Arkansas will now have giant sports bar

Big Red Rooftop will be on the north end zone deck and is the largest outdoor bar in college football, per Arkansas.

Oh, to be young again. The idealism. The immaturity. The innocence.

We’re kidding, of course, but with Thursday’s news that the University of Arkansas would be installing the largest outdoor sports bar in college football, we couldn’t help but laugh at the old days. Remember those? The days – not even six years ago – when puritanical beliefs would have had the masses believe that the introduction of alcohol into college sports would somehow taint things.

The gall! The nerve!

Shoot, now athletic departments are finding out how they can get even more of the cut. Just four years the school approved such sales and in the fall, Arkansas is going a step further by opening Big Red’s Rooftop on the north end zone deck.

The new digs will have three different bars under a canopy so that fans can avoid the bright sunshines of daytime kicks in September or the rains of November. Each bar is over 200 feet long and will have 70 bar seats and TVs throughout, according to the university release. The bar will also include pub tables and a drink rail that overlooks the field.

Tickets will be sold on a single-game basis and there will not be assigned seating. Those tickets go on sale July 12.
