Remainder of G League, Red Claws season likely to be canceled soon

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews report the NBA’s G League – and Maine Red Claws – season is likely to be canceled soon.

Boston Celtics two way players Tacko Fall and Tremont Waters will be likely be done playing for the Maine Red Claws for the season soon.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews report that the remainder of the NBA’s G League season will soon be canceled, effectively ending the duo’s time in Portland with Boston’s developmental franchise.

The G League regular season runs through the end of March, after which the pair would have been eligible to play with the team as much as needed — the 45-day maximum days limiting how often a two way player can play with the parent club lifted with the ending of the G League season.

If the season is resumed, that could still happen, though neither would be eligible for postseason play as two way players.

However, with news of new CDC guidelines which call for no gatherings of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks, such an eventuality became more complicated.

A resumption of league activities is perhaps still possible, but in even the best-case scenario seeing the recommendation changed back to something permitting even a bare-bones, empty-arena game would not begin until the second week of May.
