Referees bail out Chiefs, negate two long runs by Broncos QB Bo Nix

Shawn Hochuli’s crew of referees bailed out the Chiefs in the first half of Kansas City’s Week 18 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in the process of capitulating to the Denver Broncos in a Week 18 matchup that features two teams with vastly different objectives.

Kansas City is simply doing its best to stay healthy and is resting its starters in the AFC West showdown.

Denver is fighting to punch its ticket to the playoffs and holds a 24-point lead heading into halftime.

Though the Chiefs have taken a beating, fans in Kansas City can take solace in the fact that Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had two impressive rushes called back by referees, which helped the defending Super Bowl champions stop the bleeding before the second quarter ended.

First, Nix was called for an illegal forward pass, which negated a Denver gain of 50 yards.

Then, Broncos offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz was flagged for holding, negating a 29-yard scramble by Nix.

Ultimately, Denver was forced to settle for a field goal on its final drive of the first quarter.
