Josh Norman found himself in the headlines over the past week because he wound up benched during the loss to the New York Jets.
Now the veteran Washington Redskins corner is back in the limelight due to comments made by defensive coordinator Greg Manusky.
When asked why Norman isn’t making plays this year, Manusky said “we put him in situations to make plays and we’re just not making them,” according to ESPN’s John Keim.
Now the coach did go on to suggest Norman isn’t the only person in this sort of predicament. But it’s more notable for a veteran who had problems making plays last year and just got benched in his team’s last game.
Norman, 31, has one more year left on his current deal but it increasingly feels like the two parties might be approaching a separation point sooner rather than later. If there isn’t an upswing in play from the veteran leader, the situation could only get more interesting from here.
