The Washington Redskins have spent a ton of money on the tight end position over the years.
In 2019 the team hardly got anything from the big investments.
With Vernon Davis going to injured reserve Friday, his cap hit of more than $6.2 million joined the cap hit of Jordan Reed — another $9.6 million.
That combined number means the Redskins pay up more money to tight ends than any other team in the NFL, per NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay.
To Washington’s credit, Davis has been relatively healthy during his time with the team. But his season ends with just four games played and 10 catches.
As for Reed, his injury history was well known. While Davis’ time with the team is likely over, the Redskins will have a tough call to make on Reed considering his cap hit for next season checks in north of $10 million.
