A full seven-round NFL mock draft is a daunting undertaking. 255 picks taking into consideration the draft needs of all 32 teams is a ridiculously complicated project. So we applaud Dane Brugler for doing this for The Athletic. We went through all the picks and compared Brugler’s picks with our own draft to see if we could do better selecting the same positions.
Here’s Brugler’s mock:
2 (49) RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, LSU
3 (102) WR Antonio Gandy-Golden, Liberty
4 (124) LB Troy Dye, Oregon
4 (135) OG Logan Stenberg, Kentucky
6 (198) DT Broderick Washington, Texas Tech
7 (232) EDGE Trevon Hill, Miami (Fla.)
And this is my re-draft using the same positions and only taking players chosen after the Steelers pick in each round.
Second round-WR Tee Higgins, Clemson
Third round-LB Malik Harrison, Ohio State
Fourth round-EDGE Jonathan Garvin, Miami
Fourth round-OL Kevin Dotson, Louisiana
Sixth round-RB Raymond Calais, La. Tech.
Seventh round-DT Bravvion Roy, Baylor
For me, this draft is all about getting players who can come in right away and have an immediate impact. Higgins’ speed makes him a much better option than Gandy-Golden who is more of a contested-catch guy who can’t get separation. Along those same lines, Harrison would pair up with Devin Bush to be one of the most dynamic interior tandems in the AFC.
But overall, which mock draft would you rather see for the Steelers?
