RECRUITING SPOTLIGHT: 2024 Safety, Alabama commit Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.

This week, the Recruiting Spotlight is put on highlight 2024 wide receiver and Alabama commit Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.

Alabama saw its first legacy commitment in the Nick Saban era come in early August. Class of 2024 safety Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. announced his commitment to Alabama over Missouri and Auburn. He is the son of former Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick Jr. is a similar style player to his father. However, he has been viewed as a more versatile athlete. This means the Alabama coaching staff believes that Kirkpatrick Jr. could play multiple positions in college such as safety, cornerback, and STAR.

Alabama will likely lose several players in those positions such as Malachi Moore, Kool-Aid McKinstry, and Jaylen Key. With that said, Kirkpatrick Jr. could have an opportunity to come in and have an immediate impact in the secondary. He has the skillset and attributes to contribute early on in his college career.

Kirkpatrick Jr. and his teammates at Gadsden City High School are off to a 3-1 start to begin the season. Kikrpatrick Jr. has played a key role at safety and on special teams. Through the first three games of the season, Kirkpatrick Jr. recorded 15 tackles and one interception.

As a kick returner, Kirkpatrick Jr. has five returns for 164 yards and one touchdown.

It will be intriguing to see how Kirkpatrick Jr. continues to perform during his senior season. The Alabama coaching staff is high on him and is excited to have him on board as a part of the 2024 class.
