One recruiting analyst ‘likes’ the position that the UNC basketball program is in for a top transfer forward.
The transfer portal is as active as ever, and for a UNC basketball program looking to fill numerous spots, that’s a good thing.
Earlier this week an intriguing name North Carolina already had a relationship with popped into the portal. That was Stanford wing [autotag]Harrison Ingram[/autotag].
Part of the 2020 class, Ingram chose Stanford over UNC, Purdue and others.
Now, the Tar Heels are a potential landing spot for the former five-star prospect.
According to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Eric Bossi, he likes the potential for Ingram to land in Chapel Hill.
“There will be some big-name programs looking to get involved with Ingram but as he begins the transfer process, we like the position that North Carolina is in. We aren’t ready to flat out predict he’ll end up Chapel Hill, but we do like Hubert Davis and the Heels chances.”
Ingram averaged 10.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game as a sophomore. As a freshman, he averaged 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
At 6 feet, 7 inches, Ingram is a hybrid forward who can play both with the ball in his hands and in the paint. However, his shot didn’t improve as much as expected after he returned for his sophomore season.
He is a career 31.6% shooter from 3 on 3 attempts per game. He has made 36 3s in each of the last two seasons.
Ingram has started 62 of 65 career games.
With North Carolina’s front line centered around a paint presence like Armando Bacot, allowing for as much space in the paint is critical. But, Ingram’s ability to play off of the dribble is very appealing to a team that has struggled with playmakers on the wing in the last few seasons.
