River Baldwin and the No. 10 North Carolina State played a near-flawless game on Saturday as it handed No. 3 Colorado its first loss of the 2023-24 season, 78-60. The 6-foot-5 senior center scored a career-high 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting in helping the Wolfpack win the Paradise Jam Classic. The win marked the second time NC State has beaten a top-five team this year.
One day after having its best shooting performance of the year, CU was held to 32.8% from the field en route to its lowest-scoring output of the season. Colorado’s offense never fully got on track as NC State constantly defended shots and pressured the Buffs into 22 turnovers.
The Buffaloes’ backcourt tried to keep CU in the game, however. Frida Formann notched 14 points and Jaylyn Sherrod poured in 20, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
Colorado will return home for a matchup against the Boston U. Terriers on Tuesday at 6 p.m. MT.
