Realistic expectations for Bronny James’ rookie season with the Lakers

ESPN NBA analysts discuss Bronny James’ future with the Lakers.

Bronny James was expected to land with the Los Angeles Lakers and that was exactly what happened on Thursday afternoon in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft.

Yahoo Sports NBA draft analyst Krysten Peek projected that James would be taken with the 55th overall selection by the Los Angeles Lakers.

“James is far from a finished product, but proved he belonged in this draft class as a prospect at the draft combine, where he shot the ball well and showed more scoring potential in the lane with his floater,” Peek wrote in her most recent mock draft.

But what are realistic expectations for Bronny James’ rookie season with the Lakers? It seems hard to think that Bronny will crack the Lakers’ rotation right away. He might have a cup of coffee and join LeBron James for a few Laker games, just to get his feet wet and have the kinds of experiences he and his father want to remember for the rest of their lives, but over the larger course of the coming basketball season, it seems highly likely that Bronny will be developing his game in the G League.
