He is getting a nice paycheck, too. It is a two-year deal worth up to $14.5 million with $11 million guaranteed.
He played the 2020 season on the transition tag that paid him nearly $8.5 million.
In 15 games, he had a career-high 955 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 4.0 yards per attempt. It was the first time in his career he was a No. 1 back for a full season.
In 23 games for the Cardinals, Drake rushed for 1,598 yards and eight touchdowns.
The departure leaves a hole at running back for Arizona, who now only have Chase Edmonds under contract with any NFL experience.
As for the Raiders, it is an interesting move to pay Drake that much when they already have a young back in Josh Jacobs who has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons.
Congratulations to Drake and the new gig and contract. It is well deserved.
