Razorbacks run-rule Princeton to open Fayetteville Regional

Arkansas will face Oregon on Saturday in the winners bracket of the NCAA Tournament’s Fayetteville Regional.

Arkansas softball, the No. 4 team in the nation, looked like it on Friday.

The Razorbacks opened the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Friday evening with an 11-0 win over Ivy League champ Princeton. Arkansas will play second-seeded Oregon on Saturday for a spot in the Regional final.

The Ducks beat Wichita State, 10-2, in the other first-round game. First pitch between Oregon and Arkansas is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Arkansas scored eight runs in the fourth to send the Tigers packing. Danielle Gibson, who went 1 for 2 with five RBI, hit a grand slam in the inning as the biggest highlight. She and her teammates walked seven times and had seven hits in 19 at-bats.

On the other side, Arkansas starter Mary Haff worked the complete game, giving up just two hits and a walk while striking out six in her five innings.
