The stretch run has arrived. The Arkansas basketball postseason will almost certainly be determined in the next four, the final four, games of the season.
Arkansas tips against Georgia at 8 p.m. on Tuesday night from Bud Walton Arena. At 7-7 in conference play, the Razorbacks are among seven teams in the SEC who are either at .500 or within a game of it. Teams more than two games below .500 in the league haven’t made the NCAA Tournament in times past.
So, basically, Arkansas needs to beat Georgia. If the Razorbacks don’t, the Dance may not offer an invite.
Joe Lunardi, ESPN’s resident Bracketlogist, released his latest round of projections Tuesday morning. He had Arkansas as a 9-seed, set to play 8-seeded Iowa. It’s a jump of one position from his previous rankings.
It’s unlikely Arkansas would jump again even after a win against the Bulldogs, though. Perhaps one spot, depending on how the teams ahead of them do this week.
However, Arkansas’ true test comes in the final three games. The Razorbacks head to projected 1-seed Alabama, projected 3-seed Tennessee and finish in Fayetteville against projected 8-seed Kentucky.
