Razorbacks cap home tournament with win over Drake to go 5-1

Arkansas rolled to a shutout to take the Razorback Invitational on the weekend.

Defending Bogle Park will be one of the keyes to the Arkansas softball team’s season in 2023.

The weekend was a solid start to that end.

The Razorbacks won their home tournament, the Razorback Invitational, with a title-clinching win over Drake on Sunday afternoon, 7-2, in five innings. The victory made Arkansas 5-1 on the weekend with a three-game sweep over the Bulldogs and two wins over No. 19 Arizona.

Sunday’s capper was Arkansas’ from the word go.

Drake had just two hits off Arkansas starter Callie Turner through the first five innings while Hogs’ hitters scored five runs in the first two innings alone.

Rylin Hedgecock smacked a three-run shot in the first inning and Hannah Gammill had a two-run single in the second. Rylee Cloud and Hannah Camenzind had an RBI double and RBI single respectively in the fifth inning to cap things.

Arkansas is actually back at home on the upcoming weekend, as well. Iowa State, North Texas and Texas-Corpus Christi are all in Fayetteville for two games apiece against the Razorbacks for the Woo Pig Classic. The Hogs’ first game of the tournament is Thursday at 4 p.m.
