The Baltimore Ravens were nothing short of embarrassing on national television. Going up against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, the Ravens had a golden opportunity to not only continue their undefeated streak this season but prove their critics wrong in the process. Unfortunately, Baltimore’s critics are louder now than ever before after a terrible 34-20 loss at the hands of Kansas City.
Rightfully, the Ravens took a tumble in Touchdown Wire’s latest power rankings list. After topping the charts last week, Baltimore slid down to No. 6 this week. But not all is lost, with writer Doug Farrar offering a little consolation.
In order to be the champs, you’ve got to beat the champs, and the Ravens, as great as they are, missed that opportunity on Monday night. They have Washington, the Bengals, and the Eagles over the next three weeks, so there are healing opportunities.
It’s worth noting that while this particular loss was ugly and brings about some questions for the Ravens, it is just one game. In fact, Baltimore had a similar difficult loss around this time last season before making changes to their roster; not losing another regular-season game until this one.
If the problems seen on Monday continue to pop up over the next few weeks, it’ll be time to ring the alarm bell. But until then, the Ravens are deserving of a little leeway, even if they earned this drop in the power rankings.
