Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta is taking care of his own players early once again. The Ravens announced they’ve signed cornerback Marlon Humphrey to a five-year extension. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $98.75 million. Humphrey is now locked in with Baltimore through 2026.

Humphrey, 24, joins the likes of Darius Slay, Tre’Davious White and Jalen Ramsey with his new contract. All three are cornerbacks who were signed to big contracts in recent months by their respective teams. Ramsey is still the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback in terms of average annual value at $21 million, but Humphrey, the Ravens’ 2017 first-round pick, now ranks second at $19.75M.

Humphrey is fresh off his first Pro Bowl campaign last season, becoming one of the best cornerbacks in the league, despite playing out of position due to Tavon Young’s injury. He’s picked up right where he left off, grabbing one interception, one forced fumble, and a half-sack through three games.

“Marlon is the type of player we want in Baltimore,” DeCosta said in a statement. “Besides his obvious talents as a playmaking corner, he’s a passionate competitor who craves winning. Marlon has been a stalwart in our community, and we are excited that he’s going to remain with us for seven seasons.

“These are difficult deals to reach, and the credit goes to Pat Moriarty and Joel Segal for working together to get it done. We give a big congratulations to Marlon and his family. This is a good day for the Ravens.”
