Ravens reportedly cut multiple WRs ahead of cutdown day deadline

The Ravens reportedly made a few roster moves ahead of the Tuesday cutdown day deadline

The Baltimore Ravens will have to trim their roster to 53 players by Tuesday, August 31st at 4pm EST. Multiple tough decisions await Baltimore, as there are many talented players who deserve to make the team, but won’t because of how little space is available throughout the roster, as well as more depth needed at certain positions.

The Ravens already made a handful of moves leading up to Tuesday, but as the deadline quickly approaches, more will be reported and announced. On, Monday it was reported that Baltimore had parted ways with three wide receivers.

The Ravens brought in a plethora of new receivers over the past few months, especially recently due to injuries at the position. However, with players such as Brown returning to practice, the wideouts brought in for depth purposes are no longer needed.

Cain was signed to a reserve/futures deal in January of 2021. He had a nice start to training camp for Baltimore before being sidelined with an injury for multiple weeks. He recently returned to the field and suited up in the Ravens’ final preseason game, but struggled to the tune of one catch for five yards on five targets, dropping multiple passes.

Gray was signed by Baltimore in June, and spent time as a return specialist for the team as well as receiver. It was unlikely he was going to make the 53-man roster.

Mariner was signed in August as depth, and was also unlikely to make the final team. All three players could be practice squad candidates.
