As should be a shock for no one, 2019 NFL MVP and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson announced he’s the new cover player for EA Sports’ Madden franchise. He’ll become the second Ravens player to grace the cover of the video game franchise, following Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis, who was on “Madden 2005.”
Jackson lit up the league last season, his second in the league, shattering both franchise and NFL records. He threw for 3,127 yards and a league-leading 36 touchdown passes while adding another 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He became just the second unanimous MVP winner in NFL history while adding his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro nominations as well.
Jackson will take over the cover from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who won the NFL MVP award the previous season before winning Super Bowl LIV in February.

Baltimore’s offense completely transformed seemingly overnight, finishing the 2019 season ranked first in points scored and second in yards. Under offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Ravens weren’t afraid to shy away from Jackson’s talents on the ground but saw a ton of refinement in his accuracy, making way for an explosive passing attack balanced by a historically great rushing attack.
After such a magical season, many are looking for Jackson to follow it up. He’s one of the favorites to win the MVP award this upcoming season.
