Ravens QB Lamar Jackson shares thoughts on performance of WRs in Week 1 win vs. Jets

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson shared his thoughts on the performance of his WRs in their Week 1 win vs. the New York Jets

The Baltimore Ravens entered Week 1 of the 2022 season looking to bounce back from a 2021 year that saw them go 8-9 and miss the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They did just that, winning by the final score of 24-9 and putting together an extremely strong second half after what many classified as a sloppy first 30 minutes.

Baltimore’s receivers were able to show up in a big way over the course of the contest, and helped quarterback Lamar Jackson finish with 213 yards passing and three scores through the air. When Jackson was asked about the performance of his receivers. He said it was very positive, and it boosts the confidence in everyone.

“Very positive. It boosts our confidence in each other. We just have to keep going. This is the first game; we have 16 more games to go, and playoffs and stuff like that, so we just have to keep it going.”

Wide receiver Rashod Bateman caught two passes for 59 yards, including a 55-yard strike from Jackson where the duo fount pay dirt. Devin Duvernay also contributed, finishing the game with four catches for 54 yards and two scores, matching his total from the first two years of his NFL career. Even new addition Demarcus Robinson got in on the action, hauling in two passes for 19 yards.

Baltimore chose not to invest in the wide receiver position after trading away wideout Marquise Brown, instead opting to trust the players they already had on their roster. The first game of 2022 showed that there is plenty of promise in the group, with hopefully much more potential to be realized over the course of the year.
