The Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the Tennessee Titans in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs. There will undoubtedly be tons of talk about how quarterback Lamar Jackson hasn’t won a playoff game yet and how Tennessee ousted Baltimore in the divisional round last year. But at least one oddsmaker believes it’s the Ravens’ time.
According to BetMGM, the Ravens are currently four-point favorites over the Titans for the playoffs. That’s fairly monumental considering the game is being held in Tennessee and home teams are given a three-point bump on the spread to account for it. Still, it’s the smallest spread of any wild-card game this weekend, pointing to it being a tight contest that will likely come down to the final minutes.
The Ravens and Titans met once already this season, with Tennessee needing overtime to defeat an injury-depleted Baltimore squad, 30-24, in Week 11. But with the Ravens healthier while the Titans have some injury concerns, and Baltimore set to have both Calais Campbell and Brandon Williams on the defensive line in this tilt, it makes sense the Ravens are being given the odds edge this week.
Baltimore has seemingly found a rhythm on offense over the last five weeks, averaging 267 rushing yards per game while quarterback Lamar Jackson has dialed in the deep passing attack and become more efficient throwing the ball underneath. Over that five-game stretch, the Ravens scored a total of 186 points (37.2 points per game average). The defense has been a little concerning, giving up big plays on the ground and through the air to what should have been inferior competition. But as they get healthier, there’s hope the defense will return to early-season form.
