Ravens named as top landing spot for Cardinals star WR by CBS Sports

The Ravens were named as a top landing spot for a star Arizona Cardinals wide receiver by CBS Sports

The Baltimore Ravens have built their roster in a very specific way, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. They have de-valued the wide receiver position for many years, and chose to not add much after subtracting plenty from their wide receiver room during the 2022 offseason.

When listing out top landing spots for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports put Baltimore at the top of the list. He mentions how Hopkins checks all of the boxes for the Ravens as a true No. 1 wide receiver, although the “X factor” in making a move would be the long-term status of quarterback Lamar Jackson.

“This one checks all the boxes: the Ravens desperately need a bona fide No. 1 WR for Lamar Jackson, they’ve got an abundance of cap space ($52.6M) to spend, they offer a chance to contend, and there’s even a slight personal connection; tight ends coach George Godsey was the Texans’ offensive coordinator from 2015-2016, when Hopkins made his Pro Bowl debut with a 1,500-yard breakout. The X factor, though, is Jackson: what does the future hold for the QB, who’s been injured in two straight seasons and remains unsigned beyond 2022.”

Hopkins would be an excellent addition to Baltimore’s wide receiver group in 2023, especially one that already has Rashod Bateman and Devin Duvernay. That trio plus tight end Mark Andrews would give the Ravens plenty of quality weapons around Jackson, assuming he stays in Baltimore.
