The Baltimore Ravens have multiple needs left to fill on their 2023 roster as they look to improve their team ahead of next season. The team has done very little to try to upgrade their roster at the moment, with veteran Nelson Agholor being their only veteran addition.
When looking at potential landing spots for Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, Maurice Moten of Bleacher Report named Baltimore as a potential option. He made a case both for and against Ekeler with the Ravens, first saying that Ekeler would serve as a viable option in the passing game.
“Baltimore signed Nelson Agholor, but he’s coming off another down year with 31 receptions for 362 yards and just two touchdowns. While J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards handle the majority workload on the ground, Ekeler can serve as a viable asset in the short passing game.”
Moten then took a look at the other side of the argument, saying Ekeler’s acquisition would send a poor message to their locker room.
“The Ravens would send a poor message to the locker room if they acquire Ekeler and then sign him to an extension before coming to a resolution with Jackson. Even if Baltimore comes to terms with Jackson on a new deal, the front office must do its best to surround him with more talent at wideout rather than a running back who can line up as a receiver.”
