The Baltimore Ravens need to address their cornerback room in more ways than one. Star cornerback Marlon Humphrey is one of the staples of the team’s defense, but behind him there isn’t much proven depth, so additions are needed.
When listing off the best team fits for South Carolina cornerback Cam Smith in the 2023 NFL draft, Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network named Baltimore as one of them. He mentioned how Smith fits the Ravens’ aura, and talked about his physicality both in coverage and supporting in the running game.
“Smith just fits the Baltimore type of aura, doesn’t he, as a gritty, in-your-face type of ballplayer? Brandon Stephens is slated to start opposite Marlon Humphrey this fall, and I’d like an upgrade if I’m Eric DeCosta. Smith can reroute a receiver inside the contact window, carry a guy 30 yards up the boundary, and knock a guy like Nick Chubb off his feet in the ground game. Sign me up.”
