The Cincinnati Bengals have been on the receiving end of some trash talk over the first two weeks of the season after dropping games to the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens.
The latest bit comes from Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith, who took issue with not only the playoff loss last year, but other things such as comments made by Bengals players.
“Every game is personal, but there was definitely some scars from that [playoff] game,” Smith said on the ‘Ravens Vault’ podcast with Sarah Ellison. “You don’t forget things like that, and the things that some of the [Bengals] guys say, and the little mentality that they have and just saying little cheap things here and there. Like I said yesterday, revenge is best served as a cold dish.”
One would think Smith’s motivation would start and end with the playoff loss given how close that game was, but outside observers can’t know how the way the Bengals carry themselves or things they say impact other teams.
Either way, it’s something to file away before the teams meet again later in the season. For now, Bengals fans are more focused on whether the team will shut down Joe Burrow.
