The Baltimore Ravens pulled off a massive trade before the NFL trade deadline. The inside linebacker position was one that has seen some big contributions, but some believed it could use another talented playmaker. Baltimore certainly added on with the acquisition of linebacker Roquan Smith from the Chicago Bears.
On Wednesday, Smith was asked about his initial reaction to the trade, and was honest in his answer. He said that he was shocked at the move, but is excited to be in Baltimore and in a place where he can contend for a title.

“Honestly, no, because [I] didn’t plan to, but life happens at times. I got traded, so initially I was shocked, but I’m excited to be here. [It’s] a good group of guys, guys that are contending for a title, and that’s what I’m in the game to play for, playing for a title, so I’m excited.”
It’s a big possibility that Smith makes his Raven debut on Monday night in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints. It could take time for him to learn all of the playbook, but he’s a talented enough player to still make a high-level impact while learning. He’s going to be a player that has an impact on the entire defensive unit, making everyone around him better.
