The Baltimore Ravens spent the first quarter in a defensive struggle with the Houston Texans. Then, early in the second, after the home team failed to convert a 4th-and-1 inside their own 40, quarterback Lamar Jackson went to work and made the Texans pay. He found defensive lineman, turned fullback, turned quasi-tight end for six.
It might have been a bit short, but the Texans didn’t seem to fully account for “Project Pat,” who was able to essentially roll into the end zone without being touched.
With the lack of a true third tight end on the roster, Ricard has seen a lot of offensive action so far this season, something that isn’t likely to change given his early score today. But if he keeps providing another weapon for Jackson, neither the team nor the fans will complain.
