The Baltimore Ravens selected safety Kyle Hamilton with the 14th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He learned on the fly throughout his rookie season, putting together a strong first season in the NFL when all was said and done.

Hamilton played in a multitude of different roles for Baltimore last season, including as a big slot cornerback. When head coach John Harbaugh was asked about what Hamilton’s role could be in 2023, he discussed how the former Notre Dame star will be a safety, but a traditional safety role isn’t in their defense because they move players around.

“Yes, he [Kyle Hamilton] is not going to be ‘the nickel,’ per se. He’ll be a safety. A traditional safety role [is] probably not in our defense, because we move our guys around. Our safeties are rushing the passer, they’re playing linebacker, they’re running from on the line of scrimmage back to the deep middle. We do a lot with those guys, so the fact that he’s able to do all that really helps us be who we want to be on defense.”
