Ravens HC John Harbaugh on Lamar Jackson’s unique ability to make defenders miss

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh heaped praise on quarterback Lamar Jackson for being unique

The Baltimore Ravens drafted quarterback Lamar Jackson with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He’s grown into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and has proven haters wrong time and time again.

“I think anybody could probably answer that question that’s watched [Lamar Jackson] play. He’s hard to tackle. To me, the greatest compliment would be being hard to tackle. I can think back to when I was a kid, I read the Woody Hayes book. Woody Hayes talked about, ‘You could tell what a great running back looked like carrying the ball by how many tackles people miss trying to tackle him.’ I think that’s true for wide receivers [with] run after the catch. It’s true for quarterbacks on scrambles. Patrick Mahomes is one of the best at making tacklers miss. Lamar’s unique that way. He’s one of the best I’ve ever seen, obviously, [that] anybody’s ever seen. He’s a tough tackle.”

Ahead of the AFC Championship game, head coach John Harbaugh was asked about Jackson and his ability when it comes to being so hard to defend. Harbaugh talked about how Jackson is the total package, while also complimenting Kansas City Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes.
