Ravens HC John Harbaugh explained why safety Marcus Williams didn’t play in Week 8

The Baltimore Ravens signed safety Marcus Williams to a five year, $70 million extension during the 2022 offseason. He played well when on the field over his first few seasons with the team, but has strived immensely in 2024.

Williams was active for Baltimore’s Week 8 game vs. the Cleveland Browns, but didn’t see a snap. Head coach John Harbaugh talked about why Williams didn’t play, saying it was a personnel decision while also mentioning it was an internal situation.

“It was a personnel decision. We’re kind of working through some things there, [and] I feel very confident Marcus [Williams] is going to be out there playing great football the rest of the season. I’ll just talk about it being an internal type of situation.”

There is a lot of unknown when it comes to Williams’ situation, with plenty still left to be uncovered. It’s unclear if he will play for the Ravens in Week 9, but the team needs more production out of their secondary, Williams or not.
