Ravens defensive lineman Justin Madubuike revealed how he stayed comfortable in a contract year

The Baltimore Ravens drafted defensive lineman Justin Madubuike in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. The former Texas A&M star always had plenty of potential but finally realized his potential in 2023.

Madubuike finished the year with double-digit sacks for the first time in his career, blowing his previous season high out of the water. When asked how he remained so comfortable in a contract year, Madubuike credited his faith and belief in himself.

“I would say my faith, for sure. My faith and my belief in myself kept me calm. I just knew that if I just do the right things, go to bed on time, stay consistent, stay focused and just do the right thing, I know at the end of the tunnel, there is going to be some light, and everything is going to take care of itself, and it did. So, I have to continue that formula, keep it going and just try to continue to be an impactful player.”

With how disruptive Madubuike is on the interior, the Ravens needed to keep him around for the long haul. To reward him for believing in himself, they signed him to an almost $100M extension.
