The Baltimore Ravens made a big splash before the 2019 NFL trade deadline, acquiring cornerback Marcus Peters from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for inside linebacker Kenny Young and a fifth-round pick. The move was considered to be a great one for Baltimore by many at the time that it happened, and it has only looked better and better as time has gone on.
After one-and-a-half great seasons playing for the team, Peters suffered a torn ACL before the start of 2021, effectively ending his year before it began. Peters recently talked with Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, and when asked about a possible extension with the Ravens, made it clear that he’d want to be nowhere else.
“I’m going to just say this. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. I feel comfortable being here. If some things get worked out, then they get worked out. But as of right now, I’m in the last year of my deal. I’m here to get my leg better and just play ball at the highest level I can play ball at. The rest of the s*** will take care of itself.”
Peters signed a three-year, $42m extension with Baltimore towards the end of the 2019 season. He’s slated to hit free agency again in 2023, but his comments make it clear that the Ravens organization is where he feels he belongs. The veteran has been a phenomenal addition both on and off of the field for Baltimore, so another extended stay with the Ravens seems like it could happen depending on how everything goes in 2022.
