Ravens CB Jimmy Smith robbed at gunpoint

Baltimore Ravens CB Jimmy Smith and his family were followed to their hotel and robbed at gunpoint Tuesday.

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith had a scary encounter Tuesday night. According to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, Smith and his family were followed from LAX airport to their hotel where they were robbed at gunpoint. Fortunately, Smith and his family weren’t hurt.

The Ravens released a statement saying they are aware of the situation and both Smith and his family are safe.

Smith has been an important part of Baltimore’s defense and was especially instrumental in 2020 as the Ravens dealt with a rash of injuries at the position. Smith played in 11 games in 2020, starting five while notching one pass defensed, one fumble recovery, one sack, and 27 combined tackles. He was targeted 36 times during the season, allowing 18 completions but no touchdowns and only a 57.4 passer rating.

The Ravens signed Smith to a one-year contract extension during the season, bringing him back for 2022.
