Rashan Gary strip-sack, Robert Tonyan touchdown extends lead for Packers

The Packers got a takeaway and a Robert Tonyan touchdown to go up 21-7.

A turnover caused by Rashan Gary led to a long-awaited touchdown from Robert Tonyan and helped the Green Bay Packers extend their lead over Washington to two scores on Sunday.

On the opening possession of the second half, Gary strip-sacked Taylor Heinicke, giving Dean Lowry a chance to recover the fumble at Washington’s 27-yard line. Three plays later, Aaron Rodgers found Tonyan open in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown.

The Packers now lead, 21-7.

With the fumble recovery, the defense has now produced at least one takeaway in six straight games.

Tonyan, who produced 11 touchdown catches last season, caught his second score of the 2021 season and his first since Week 2.
