Larry Legend has that nickname for a reason, and the iconic Boston Celtics forward better known as Larry Bird may soon see his likeness alongside two of his peers from that era of NBA basketball fetch a record return in the form of a trading card auction, reports TMZ.
The ultra-rare 1980-1981 Topps Scoring Leader sports trading card features Bird, his biggest rival in Los Angeles Laker Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and Philadelphia 76ers and American Basketball Association legend Julius “Dr. J” Erving, and is slated to be auctioned by sports memorabilia resale experts SCP Auction for as much as a half-million dollars based on early estimates.
That the card is graded in mint condition — one of only 24 known to exist — is what sets the bar so high.
So, if you happen to have a half milly in liquid assets lying around, this keepsake could very well be yours.
Assuming the price tag doesn’t get bid even higher.
