Raptors at Rockets: Betting odds, point spread for Monday night

The Raptors have lost eight straight, while Houston is on a historic 20-game skid. Fittingly, Toronto’s last win came against the Rockets.

With frustrations starting to boil over, the Houston Rockets (11-30) will have another opportunity to end their historic losing streak when the Toronto Raptors (17-25) visit Toyota Center on Monday night.

Sunday’s heartbreaker versus Oklahoma City was Houston’s 20th straight loss, which puts the current Rockets among the 10 worst losing streaks in NBA history. Playing the very next night probably will not help the cause for Stephen Silas, since Houston has a handful of veterans who often sit out for planned maintenance in back-to-back scenarios.

According to Monday’s injury report, Victor Oladipo — Houston’s second-leading scorer among active players — will sit out for injury management, as he typically does in these situations. Kevin Porter Jr., who has battled right quadriceps soreness in recent days, is questionable.

The limited consolation for Houston is that Toronto is also on a back-to-back, having played in Cleveland on Sunday night. The Raptors have a long losing streak of their own, too, eight games.

Monday’s probable starters for Toronto are Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Norman Powell, OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam, while Houston will likely start John Wall, Sterling Brown, Danuel House Jr., Jae’Sean Tate and Christian Wood. As expected, Eric Gordon (groin), David Nwaba (wrist), and Dante Exum (calf) remain out with longer-term injuries.

Advice and prediction

If the Rockets at near-full strength couldn’t beat OKC at home, even with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Al Horford and Darius Bazley all out, it’s hard to have confidence in a short-handed version defeating a more talented and veteran opponent a night later. Toronto gave Houston its 10th straight loss last month, and the bet here is that they add No. 21, too.

Prediction: 113-106, Raptors
