Ranking the top 3 Panthers players who have the most trade value

With that in mind, here are the top three guys with the most trade value on the roster.

1. QB Cam Newton

The value: Newton’s value should be obvious to those who know what they’re talking about. The last time he was 100% was in the first half of the 2018 season. During that stretch, he went 6-2, which included a 36-point thrashing of the top-ranked Ravens defense and an incredible 17-point comeback win against the Eagles.

Newton was playing at such a level that he’d have been in the MVP conversation if it wasn’t rightfully exclusively centered around Patrick Mahomes. When he’s healthy, Newton is a legitimate top-10 QB and he’d be an instant upgrade for teams like the Bears, Jaguars, Colts and Chargers.

The catch: Under normal circumstances, dealing a former MVP quarterback would get a massive return in draft picks. However, trading Newton at this point means the team would be selling low. Cam’s value has been somewhat diminished by his foot and shoulder injuries and they might not get more than a third-round pick right now. If they decide to blow it all up, then dealing Newton make sense. If they want to compete in 2020, they should keep him.
