Ranking the three most likely “trap games” on Wisconsin football’s 2020 schedule

Ranking the three most likely traps to avoid on the 2020 Badger football schedule

1. Wisconsin vs. Northwestern (at Wrigley Field in Chicago) — Week 10 — 11/7/20

Wisconsin fans know that in recent years, Northwestern games have been struggles whether or not the Badgers pull out a win. Even in 2019, a year where the ‘Cats went 3-9 and won only one Big Ten game, they still pushed the Badgers in an ugly 24-15 Wisconsin win at Camp Randall. This time the two teams meet at a neutral site in what should be a historic day at Wrigley Field. The Wildcats had all sorts of problems on the offensive side of the ball last season, but Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald and crew are always a solid team on the defensive side of things. Offensively, changes are in the works for the ‘Cats. Former Indiana QB Peyton Ramsey enters the QB room as a transfer this season, and just two years removed from winning the Big Ten West, Northwestern has re-tooled their offensive coaching staff.

The history here provides an opportunity for a trap game, as well as the neutral site factor. The field will certainly be slightly unorthodox for both teams, and Wrigley is closer to Evanston than it is to Madison. Wisconsin fans travel as well as any group in the country, and it would be surprising if there is not a majority of Badger red in the crowd. The game also comes near the end of the season, at a time where things may get tight in a competitive division race. UW should be on high upset alert at Wrigley.
