Here are the honorable mention teams who did not make the top five.

Nebraska Cornhuskers

History: They have only played one another 14 times and those games primarily occurred from 1998 to 2010. They have had some amazing games against one another like the 2009 Big 12 championship game but not enough to be one of the Longhorns’ top-five rivals.

Distance from each school: Approximately 821 miles separate these two schools.

Record against one another: Texas has won 10 games and Nebraska has been victorious 4 times in this rivalry. The Longhorns have won the last six games against the Cornhuskers.

Next scheduled time they play one another: With Nebraska being in the Big Ten and Texas now being in the SEC, these two teams are not scheduled to play each other in the foreseeable future. However, they could play each other in a bowl game or even in the college football playoffs in the near future.

History: These two schools have played one another 97 times on the football field. However, the in-state rivalry has been lopsided with Texas winning the last 16 games between these two in-state football programs.

Distance from each school: Approximately 173 miles separate these two State of Texas universities.

Record against one another: Texas has won 75 games and Rice has been victorious 21 times in this rivalry. They also tied once back in 1962. Since 1966 The Longhorns have won all but one game against the Owls.

Next scheduled time they play one another: Texas has scheduled other in-state schools in non-conference play like UTEP and UTSA multiple times up til 2031 but does not have Rice on any of their future schedules.

Baylor Bears

History: These two schools have played each other over a hundred times on the football field. This in-state rivalry has seen Texas winning seven of the last nine games between these two state-of-Texas football programs.

Distance from each school: Approximately only 104 miles separate these two schools in the state of Texas.

Record against one another: The Longhorns have won 81 games and Baylor has been victorious 28 times in this in-state and former Big 12 rivalry. They also tied four times with the last time being in 1957. Since 1993 Texas has won 24 times against the Bears.

Next scheduled time they play one another: Texas has not scheduled any current Big 12 schools from the state of Texas in schedules published up to 2033. However, there are openings in future schedules from 2028 on and there is a possibility that they renew their in-state rivalry with Baylor in years to come.
