Ranking the Ravens strongest position groups heading into training camp

NFL publications all across the internet are ranking the positional pecking order of every team.

You can now count down the days until NFL training camps begin opening. Training camp is all about earning your spot on the team’s roster and depth chart.

With that in mind, NFL publications across the internet are ranking every team’s positional pecking order.

After perusing many of these rankings, projections, and pieces of punditry, we present the Ravens’ five strongest position groups in no particular order.

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson is the league’s reigning most valuable player; enough said. However, do you want to say more? Ok, well, there is still another level up that Jackson can reach.

NFL legend Steve Young explained how Lamar could become the greatest of all time if he further developed the vertical passing element of his game.

Safety

It’s not hyperbole to call Kyle Hamilton the best in the league at the position. And it’s not a reach to call Hamilton and Marcus Williams the best safety pairing in the NFL.

Perhaps the best part is that both defensive backs seem to know how good they are!

Tight End

In the NFL, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better true Tight End 1 (Mark Andrews) and bona fide Tight End 2 (Isaiah Likely) combination.

Running back

Detractors remind us that Derrick Henry is on the wrong side of age 30 now, but he’s nicknamed “The King” for a reason. Calling out Henry’s age implies his durability is questionable, but that’s a fallacious argument.

Henry’s greatest strength is a proven track record of being able to carry the mail and do it very productively.

Placekicker

Justin Tucker is the most accurate and efficient ever at what he does. He already holds some essential kicking records and will likely tack on a couple more before his career ends.
