Once upon a time, Michigan football always had the top wide receivers in the conference. You knew without question, whoever wore that winged helmet wasn’t just going to thrive in Ann Arbor, they’d also become a mainstay in the NFL.
From Braylon Edwards to Anthony Carter to David Terrell to Tai Streets to Amani Toomer to Mario Manningham, it was a neverending cycle of elite talent at pass catcher.
But it hasn’t been quite the same since Lloyd Carr stepped down following the 2007 season. Rich Rodriguez changed the style of receiver with his spread-oriented system and even when the offense reverted back to pro-style under Brady Hoke then Jim Harbaugh, the prototypical No. 1 receiver was rarely found in Ann Arbor.
Taking a look back at the past 10 years, here are the best receivers who have worn the maize and blue.
