Rams-Packers named one of the most intriguing matchups of 2021

All eyes will be on Lambeau Field in Week 12 when the Rams and Packers square off.

With the complete regular-season schedule finally released, it sure looks like the Los Angeles Rams will have one of the tougher paths to the playoffs. In addition to playing six games in the highly competitive NFC West, they’ll also face the Packers, Buccaneers, Ravens, Colts and Titans, among others.

There are plenty of exciting matchups on the slate of games for L.A., which is part of the reason the Rams earned five prime-time slots. Mark Schofield of Touchdown Wire picked the most intriguing games on the 2021 schedule and Rams-Packers was highlighted among them.

It’s easy to understand why, too. Matthew Stafford versus Aaron Rodgers … probably. Jalen Ramsey covering Davante Adams. Sean McVay against his former offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur. Oh, and it’s a rematch of last year’s divisional round game.

Here’s part of what Schofield wrote about the matchup.

But there are also some fascinating schematic elements to this contest. When the Packers have the football, how will the Los Angeles Rams look to slow down that offense, especially with the departures of players such as John Johnson III and Troy Hill, along with former defensive coordinator Brandon Staley?

When the Rams have the football, will Sean McVay’s offense finally look as envisioned on paper with Matthew Stafford at the helm? Will Stafford get another win at Lambeau Field, a venue where he has enjoyed success, but now late in the season wearing a new uniform?

The Rams and Packers will square off in Week 12, but it won’t be a prime-time game. Instead, it’ll be in the late-afternoon window at 1:25 p.m. PT on Nov. 28 – one week after the Rams’ bye.

So they’ll go into that road game feeling fresh and hopefully healthy following their week off. And it never hurts to have some extra time to prepare for Rodgers and the high-powered Packers offense.
