Rams sign veteran DL Carlos Watkins

The Rams are adding depth to their defensive line, signing former fourth-rounder Carlos Watkins

The Los Angeles Rams are adding some depth to their defensive line. The team announced the signing of veteran Carlos Watkins on Wednesday, bolstering a group that lost Aaron Donald to retirement this offseason.

Watkins, 30, came into the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2017, getting selected 142nd overall by the Texans. He played four years in Houston before joining the Cowboys in 2021. He spent two seasons in Dallas and then signed with the Cardinals last year.

In his career, Watkins has played 71 games and made 37 starts, recording 139 total tackles with six sacks. He brings great size to the defensive line at 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, so he could compete for snaps at nose tackle behind Bobby Brown III and Tyler Davis.

The Rams waived Tanner Brown on Tuesday night so they had an open roster spot, which has been filled by Watkins.
