The Rams’ secondary will be dangerously shorthanded against the Cardinals on Sunday. Troy Hill has already been placed on injured reserve, so he’ll miss this weekend’s game, but so too will two other cornerbacks.
Sean McVay told reporters Friday that Cobie Durant and David Long Jr. will be out against the Cardinals. Durant injured his hamstring last weekend against the Falcons, and Long’s groin injury happened in practice.
“David sustained an unfortunate groin injury in practice so he’ll be out this week,” McVay said.
Robert Rochell will be asked to step up, and McVay expressed confidence in him. Derion Kendrick will also get his first defensive opportunity this weekend after being a healthy scratch in the first two weeks.
Fortunately, Jalen Ramsey will be healthy and atop the depth chart still, but this is a very thin cornerback group for the Rams in Week 3. Beating the Cardinals was going to be tough enough, but it’ll be even more challenging now with Hill, Durant and Long out.
