Rams players give back by donating $750K to LA social justice non-profits

Rams players came together to donate nearly $1 million to social justice non-profit organizations in L.A.

Supporting the community has been a big point of emphasis for the Los Angeles Rams under coach Sean McVay and players have responded in the right way by regularly giving back in a number of ways.

They continued their support of the local L.A. community this year by making a huge donation to non-profit organizations in the area that support social justice. Together, players pooled $750,000 to give back to 25 organizations that are fighting for racial equality and committed to creating change. The process was led by Michael Brockers, Andrew Whitworth, Johnny Hekker and Sebastian Joseph-Day.

It’s part of “Giving Tuesday” and to share the news of this generous donation, the Rams tweeted a heart-warming video of Whitworth telling members of those organizations that they’re receiving between $20,000 and $50,000 from Rams players.

In a statement released by the Rams, Whitworth applauded his teammates for coming together to make this happen and shared how much he has learned from this process.

“In my 15 years in the NFL, this has definitely been one of the most inspiring things that I have had the opportunity to be part of,” said Whitworth.  “It was an amazing process that allowed us to learn about a variety of non-profits working across Los Angeles to positively impact lives and advance social justice. The chance to hear directly from them on how we could help left us both humbled and motivated. On behalf of my teammates, we thank them for their daily passion and commitment to drive equity and are proud to support their important work.”

Among the organizations to receive a donation from the Rams are A Place Called Home, Brotherhood Crusade, College Track and Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA). They each were awarded $50,000, as were the SoLa I Can Foundation and Homeboy Industries.
