Rams place Cooper Kupp on reserve/COVID-19 list

Cooper Kupp will need to clear COVID-19 protocol before being activated.

As if the rash of injuries they’ve suffered wasn’t enough, the Rams are now facing a potential loss due to COVID-19. The team announced on Tuesday that it has placed Cooper Kupp on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

It hasn’t been disclosed if Kupp tested positive for the coronavirus or if he was exposed to someone who has. Kupp will self-quarantine regardless and be away from the team until he clears COVID-19 protocol.

If he was just a close contact, he could still play on Sunday against the Cardinals as long as he continues to test positive and doesn’t show symptoms. It’s obviously a situation to monitor as the week progresses and the Rams approach the season finale against Arizona.

Darrell Henderson and Jared Goff have already been ruled out due to injury, while Cam Akers may not be available either after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 16. If Kupp isn’t able to play, Van Jefferson will be asked to step up as the No. 3 receiver behind Robert Woods and Josh Reynolds.
