Rams injury report: RB Cam Akers out for 2nd straight day

It is looking less likely that he will be able to play Sunday against the Rams.

The Los Angeles Rams already are down several starters for their Week 17 home match against the Arizona Cardinals. One player who has a chance of playing — running back Cam Akers — appears less and less likely to do so.

Akers, who missed the Rams’ 20-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16 with a high ankle sprain, was unable to practice on Thursday. The Rams only held a walkthrough on Wednesday. He was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday as well in their estimated injury report.

He, quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) and linebacker Micah Kiser (knee) did not practice. Goff has been ruled out this week.

The Rams’ projected starting running back, Malcolm Brown, was limited for the second day in a row with a shoulder.

Offensive lineman David Edwards (ankle) was a full participant after being listed as limited on Wednesday and defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who had the day off Wednesday, was a full go on Thursday.

Defensive tackle Michael Brockers, who had Wednesday off, landed on the COVID list on Thursday and will be unable to play Sunday.

Did not participate:

  • RB Cam Akers (ankle)
  • QB Jared Goff (thumb)
  • LB Micah Kiser (knee)

Limited participation:

  • RB Malcolm Brown (shoulder)

Full participation:

  • DT Aaron Donald (Wednesday rest)
  • OL David Edwards (ankle)
